Day 2 was drastically different than Day 1! I must have been on an Invisalign high yesterday, because today was pretty painful at points. I limped along with Motrin. I worked from home yesterday, so my mouth did not get dry, which I figured meant I just would not have that side effect. Wrong! When you are around people and talking all day, your mouth does get dry. I am now drinking tons of water.
Today at lunch, I made a mistake and without thinking, sipped the straw on my Diet Coke when I got it and before I got back to the office to take out the aligners. I have also been drinking tea, which I refuse to give up. I don’t and never have sweetened it, so I think it should be fine. I switched over to a lighter colored tea and drink water after drinking the tea. I figured that I just can’t live without and as long as I brush out the aligners a few times a day, and that they are only two weeks per aligner, it’s not like they can get that stained.
By the time I got home for dinner, I was STARVING from my lack of afternoon snack. On top of that my mouth was aching. I was ready to quit. I decided to give myself a full thirty minutes without the aligners, and that really helped me get through that moment of weakness. I hope I am through the worst of it now.
My teeth feel “weird” even when I don’t have the aligners in now. It’s very challenging to explain how, but weird is the only word for now. It’s also interesting that some teeth feel as though they are being pulled on more than others with the aligners in.
Oh, one last thing I’ve found. I seem to lick my lips a lot for some reason, and they’ve gotten a little chapped as a result. I’m just going to have to carry lip balm around all the time now, too, I guess. 5 months and 29 days to go!
